Spirit Guides
Spirit guides are just spirits who don't
happen to have a body at the moment. Just like there are many different
kinds of people WITH bodies, there is a huge variety of folks on the "other
side."
Kinds of Spirit Guides
Some spirit guides are here to help individually,
and some are working on projects both large and small for the good of
many.
Angels are one type of spirit without a
body. So are elementals (ondines, nymphs, water sprites, elves, fairies
and such). There are different levels of spirit guides, all with their
own unique "purpose" if you will.
We all come in with spirit helpers. Some
could be considered angels. Others are friends from other lifetimes or
people we knew in this life who have passed over. And some are baby spirits,
who would like to be our children this time around. Hey, you were a twinkle
in your mom's eye once, too!
Stuck spirits, also known by some as "entities"
are really just beings that don't get it, and are stuck in an old pattern
that has nothing to do with present time. These are not spirit guides,
but beings who need help getting home, if you will. You can tell the difference
because their energy feels darker, more stuck, and their communication
usually is not helpful or supportive of Life and the greater good. These
folks can usually be helped by just visualizing a connection or pathway
between them and God.
Getting Help from God and Your Spirit Guides
Because we live on a free-will planet,
we usually need to ask for help first before Spirit will offer
it. Although sometimes, as in the story below, our angels are working
overtime and offer guidance without a prior request.
Asking for help is something that most
of us have trouble with, especially people who are usually independent
in nature and have trouble asking for help from other human beings, too.
Asking for help doesn't mean that you just
ask and then sit back and do nothing. But it does mean that you allow
that you can receive guidance to help you navigate through the problem
in the easiest possible way. Oftentimes, spirit guides will work through
you, giving you some communication that you need to hear. Other times,
they will work through the people around you to bring help.
Sometimes that help comes in a form that
helps you learn through experience. How you can help your guides help
you is to ask "What can I learn from this situation?" And take
some time to process it before moving forward.
There's a great story from a book
called Creating
Miracles, by Carolyn Miller, PhD. She tells
of a man who was working at a summer camp, and walking along a deserted
road one night. He hears a voice next to him say "Move over,"
which of course he dismisses and keeps walking. The voice insists again.
He does nothing. And then suddenly the voice starts nagging him, saying
things like "You never listen to anything I tell you. For once could
you just do what I say?" Still thinking it's crazy, he make a grand
jump to the right. And seconds later, in the space where he was standing,
something big whooshes by at high speed in the dark. It was a car, without
lights, traveling on the wrong side of the road.
So the next time you have a problem that
seems like more than you can handle alone, ask for help, be willing to
let it come in, and notice what happens!
