Ever get
overwhelmed by all the choices and pressures out there? When you're
a highly sensitive person, it's easy to get stuck in inertia when
you've got way too much going on around you.
For starters,
there's a lot of "spin" going on out there. From politics
to marketing, everybody wants you to buy what they're selling.
Family and friends can also pile on the pressure, especially during
the holiday season. They mean well, so it's tough saying "no"
to them, even when they're mistaken about what's right for you.
But your
extra sensitivity also gives you extra intuitive ability
to see things clearly and to create your life consciously. When
you are clear and focused, you can cut through all the psychic
noise and make choices that are right for you. Which makes for
a life that is less stressful and more in harmony with who you
are.
Listening
to your intuition isn't always easy, but it's a good first step
whenever you lose your steam or enthusiasm.
A great tool to try
Here's one
thing I do when I get stuck:
Stop and
breathe. Practice grounding. You can do that by visualizing a
beam of light connecting the base of your spine down to the center
of the planet.
Then, see
yourself stepping out of that stuck place, and right back into
the center of your head. As a reference point, reach up and touch
the spot about an inch above the bridge of your nose. I like to
visualize sitting in the center of my head, right in my sixth
chakra (the third eye.)
A lot of
people think that being in your head is a bad thing. Not so. Being
too analytical can sometimes be a problem, but your sixth chakra
is a great place to be when you're making decisions. It is,
after all, the seat of clairvoyance and intuition.
When can
you practice this tool? I use it anytime I feel fuzzy or need
to "find my space." Or whenever I need some clarity
and forward momentum to make a decision or create change.
Try it right
now. Just take a deep breath, let yourself be connected to the
center of the earth, and put your attention right into the center
of your head.
Notice....what
does grounding feel like?
Does it
feel different being in your sixth chakra?
Just notice
what you experience. Now, if there were a best next action that
can help you move forward, what might that be? It should be something
small and do-able today.
Have patience;
it takes some time and practice to get good at this. But the more
you do, the more you will allow your intuition to help you create
a life you love.
