The
Human Energy Field: What Your Aura Looks Like
by

Your
Personal Universe
Imagine
a space filled with radiant light. Energy flows and swirls through
it in bright colors. This life energy moves around you, as you sit
nestled safely in the center. This place is your aura: your own
personal universe. It is your protection, and your playground. It
constantly moves and changes, as you move and change.
Auras
come in every color of the rainbow. A human aura has seven layers,
or levels. The colors and energies in your aura can change in a
short period of time, although you may have a basic pattern of colors
is constant.
The
basic colors in your aura can evolve over time, just as you do.
Gina Allan, a Naturopathic healer, former Buddhist nun, and best-selling
author of Gifts of Spirit says that her aura colors have
changed over time with her own personal growth: "Over the last
fifteen years, I have been observing changes taking place in the
spiritual colours of my own aura. I have had these colours confirmed
by a friend who sees auras ... Fifty years ago my colours showed
a very pale aqua green, indicating healing abilities. Today that
colour is a deep sea green when I'm healing or speaking on the subject
of healing." For Allan, the deeper green color reflects her
increased certainty and evolution as a healer and teacher.
Auras
are flexible--in other words, they change all of the time. Size,
colors, texture, and density can all change depending on your state
of mind and what you are experiencing in life. Usually, though,
there is a basic pattern that we use as a "default." For
example, UCLA researcher Dr. Valerie Hunt noticed that women tend
to carry more energy around their upper bodies, and men often have
bigger auras around the lower half of their bodies.
Quantum
Reality
Over
the past 100 years, scientists have been discovering what mystics
and healers have known from the beginning of time: living creatures
are made of energy and radiate that energy. Every living thing on
our planet gives off life energy. This energy can be measured with
instruments, and now it can even be represented on film.
Dr.
Valerie Hunt, a professor and researcher at UCLA has studied the
aura for more than 30 years. In her book, Infinite Mind: The
Science of Human Vibrations, Dr. Hunt concludes that: "As
a result of my work, I can no longer consider the body as organic
systems or tissues. The healthy body is a flowing, interactive electrodynamic
energy field."
In
other words, we are made of energy and space.
Scientists
used to think that we were made of matter, and that matter was solidly
composed of particles. Now, they are discovering through quantum
physics that we are really made of energy fields instead. Gary Zukov's
The Dancing Wu Li Masters is a highly readable and understandable
exploration of quantum mechanics if you would like to learn more
about this subject. The works of Dr. Deepak Chopra also discuss
the human energy system.
The
energy making up the human body is dense enough to see and touch.
It feels solid. The aura is a little lighter, less dense, and not
easy to see with the physical eyes. Almost anyone can feel the energy
of the aura with their hands, however. It just takes a little practice.
Aura
Healing?
My
first "aura encounter" happened at Santa Clara University,
a conservative Jesuit college in Northern California. My bright,
vivacious English teacher burst into the grants office where I worked
part-time and offered to give me an "aura healing." She
was taking a healing class, and she needed to "clean out"
a few auras as homework.
Now
I am an engineer's daughter. I was raised on science and skepticism
in the heart of Silicon Valley. The scientific part of me was positive
she had gone off the deep end. But something inside me was enchanted
with her enthusiasm, so I agreed. She waved her hands around my
head and body, healing "holes" in my aura. The funny part
about it was that I could actually feel her hands moving around
me even when I had my eyes closed. Much to my surprise, I felt more
centered and energized after she finished.
Years
later, I found myself in what had to be the same spiritual healing
class that my English teacher had taken. I learned to feel the energy
of an aura with my hands. I also learned how to reset and restore
my energy after a tough day, and how to meditate to help build my
energy level. They are great visualization tools that I still use
to this day.
